What's in the box
Three single-origin 78% bars: Tuma, Opayo, and our Single Origin Dark. All three are 78% dark, all from our Nicaraguan cacao, three expressions of the same origin. Tuma and Opayo are two different profiles, fermented and dried their own way, so each tastes distinct. The Single Origin Dark blends the two for a rounder, fuller flavor. Taste them one after another and you taste what single-origin actually means. You don't need a trained palate to catch it.
Cacao nibs. The roasted bean, cracked into pieces. One of the purest forms of eating cacao, before any sugar or milk. Good on yogurt, on oatmeal, or straight from the jar.
Cacao husk tea. A delicate, lightly sweet brew made from the outer shell of the bean, steeped like tea. Naturally light on caffeine. A quiet discovery few people have ever had.
Ceremonial drinking chocolate. 100% cacao, no sugar, nothing added. The oldest way people have drunk cacao. It isn't a powder: we grind our solid chocolate into granules, so there's no block to chop. Whisk a few spoonfuls into hot water or milk, add whatever you like, froth it, blend it.
One reason this gift feels considered
We made every part of it, from the bean. Most chocolate makers buy their cacao. Most chocolatiers buy their chocolate. We do the whole thing ourselves. We're the only bean-to-bar maker in Chicago who runs the full chain.
The cacao is grown by more than 1,000 farming families across Nicaragua. It's fermented and dried in Tipitapa through Ingemann, our partner cacao company, which we part-own and direct. Then we make the chocolate ourselves: roasted, winnowed, ground, and conched at our own Oro factory in San Juan del Sur. We temper, mold, and finish every bar here in Chicago. That cacao has earned more than 300 international awards for its variety. Every box you send helps keep that land and that work healthy.
